AUDIOLAND

Audio - it's theater of the mind. Sound, when done well, has the ability to create vivid pictures and motion pictures that engage, inform and delight your brain.

AUDIO - Spots

All working radio personalities spent hours every week writing and/or producing commercials for the clients who paid the bills. Many hated doing production. I loved it as another way to be creative. I continued producing  later in all my non-radio jobs.

Spots I was proud to create, here..

AUDIO - Parody Songs

Although none were ever my job, I fancied myself a musician, songwriter and comedian. I took to heart the words of George Carlin, who said, "If you look at the world at a 45-degree angle, everything looks funny."

Some of these are dated, but all are worth a chuckle, even if you have to google the subject matter.

AUDIO - Parody Spots

Doing a morning show brought with it the added responsibility of stimulating laughter for the regular people dreading the drivetime to their own workdays. As an audio producer, I loved to poke fun at the national ads, movies and TV shows that were popular at the time.

Laughing 'bout my generation.

AUDIO - Air Checks

I always joke, "I'd go back to radio any day; any day but pay day!" It's the kind of job you'd do for free, and I did over 50 years ago on my High School's low power FM.

I ended up on-air in Iowa, but gave up my passion as my family grew. Lucky to have gotten back behind the mic part-time in the 2000s.

AUDIO - Out takes

Some on air moments deserve to be singled out. And some of the best never make the broadcast.

Here's to short-takes of my favorite moments and conversations, along with happy accidents, flubs, and perhaps a thing or two that haven't cleared the FCC's statute of limitations.
